Xebia kicked off its Fall philanthropy effort with gusto this week as it welcomed client MagMutual to the Atlanta office for a day of building bicycles and tricycles for local children ahead of the 2024 holiday season.
For Xebia, giving back to the community isn’t just a priority—it’s embedded in the company’s values. Xebia’s latest initiative, Bikes & Trikes for Kids, reflects the team’s commitment to leaving a lasting, positive impact on the Atlanta area. By the end of 2024, Xebia will build more than 100 bicycles and tricycles for Atlanta-area school children, delivering joy, independence, and a lifetime of movement to the community’s youngest members.
The Inspiration Behind Bikes & Trikes
The idea for the Bikes & Trikes for Kids, a tech community program, grew out of leadership’s desire to give back tangibly. The initiative pays homage to the company’s Dutch roots, where cycling is more than just a way to get around—it’s an integral part of life. In the Netherlands, bicycles symbolize freedom, sustainability, and a deep connection to the community. By bringing this initiative to Atlanta, Xebia is sharing a piece of its heritage while promoting health, connection, and environmental consciousness.
As Xebia grows in Atlanta, its goal is to become more than just a corporate presence—but a good neighbor. Bikes & Trikes for Kids is Xebia’s way of contributing to the city’s broader efforts to foster community engagement, empower underserved families, and create opportunities for elementary-aged students.
Giving Back to Atlanta
Atlanta has been a significant part of Xebia’s growth, and the company sees giving back as a core part of its mission. The Bikes & Trikes for Kids tech community program is a natural complement to the city’s ongoing efforts to enhance cycling opportunities like the Bike Park at Westside Park, an outdoor biking facility set to break ground in 2025. By providing bikes to children in need, Xebia’s program aligns with the city’s efforts, ensuring Atlanta children have the tools to ride, explore, and embrace the city’s emerging bike culture.
“Our Bikes & Trikes initiative reflects Xebia’s belief in the power of community,” said Sandeep Makwana, COO of Xebia. “We understand that as we continue to innovate in technology, we must also innovate in how we contribute to society. Building these bikes for children in need shows that we care deeply about the future of Atlanta. We are proud to work alongside our partners and customers to bring joy and opportunity to these families.”
Our partnerships with organizations like MagMutual and our engagement with Xebia employees, and customers all contribute to making Atlanta a more bike-friendly and inclusive city. Together with Atlanta’s growing biking infrastructure, marked by the recent $8 million donation from the Chestnut Family Foundation to expand cycling facilities, Xebia shares the goal of making biking accessible to all.
As a leader at MagMutual, Sheila Evans stated that “it is key for me and my team to support our community with the same passion that we have with being a leading provider of medical professional liability insurance. Being able to provide for those that are in need is a wonderful feeling and is aligned with the core of what MagMutual is about. I’m so honored to be a key partner in making someone’s day a little bit brighter.”
Building Stronger Communities
The Bikes & Trikes for Kids initiative is more than a one-time event—it’s an investment in the future. By gifting bicycles and tricycles to children in low-income families, Xebia is providing a sense of independence, mobility, and adventure. The company believes these experiences will help build confidence, broaden horizons, and create lasting memories.
In addition to the immediate joy these gifts will bring, Xebia hopes this program inspires its tech peers in Buckhead to think about their role in community engagement. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the day-to-day work of innovation, but Xebia recognizes that true progress involves lifting up the communities we serve.
Looking Toward the Future
Through partnerships with local organizations including the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office, The Boys & Girls Club of Atlanta, the Martin Luther King Center, and Must Ministries, Xebia will build and distribute dozens of bikes to children across Atlanta. These strong community partnerships will ensure the bikes reach the children who need them most, spreading joy and excitement as families across the region prepare for the holiday season.
By continuing to give back through programs like Bikes & Trikes, Xebia remains dedicated to making a difference in its community. This initiative is just one of the many ways the company works to ensure that Atlanta’s youth have the opportunities and resources they need to thrive—both on and off the bike.
