Rainforest Alliance, an NGO dedicated to the preservation of forests and sustainable farming practices, has been collaborating with Xebia, for over 15 years.
This long-standing partnership is a story of mutual growth and development, all in the light of the Rainforest Alliance's ambition to pave the way for a better future. The collaboration between the Rainforest Alliance and Xebia began when the Rainforest Alliance chose Xebia as their consulting partner in the field of intelligent automation services. For both organisations, Xebia, being a value-driven company, and the Rainforest Alliance, with its mission to create a better future for people and nature, it was a very important aspect of collaboration to share a belief and have the organisations’ value systems aligned.
Initially, the collaboration started with a small team from Xebia, consisting of only a few Consultants based in India. However, as time went on, the partnership grew.
As Xebia is offering different lines of Consultancy services, the collaboration and involvement expanded, starting with Intelligent Automation, exploring Data & AI next to Xebia Microsoft services and Transformation Consulting.
Rainforest Alliance focuses on different pillars that are supported by technology:
- Certification program, ensuring that the whole supply chain meets certain standards in terms of sustainability, …
- Traceability, tracking the journey of certified products from producer to consumer through the supply chain, ensuring transparency and compliance with sustainability standards.
- Farm Intelligence Platform, a digital platform that helps farmers use data-driven insights to improve agricultural practices, boost sustainability, and increase productivity. It supports the monitoring of farm conditions and promotes eco-friendly farming methods.
One of the significant milestones in the collaboration between Rainforest Alliance and Xebia was when Xebia showcased their capabilities beyond their initial work and provided technology and IT strategy advice, helped with building a new data collection model, and assisted the Rainforest Alliance in transitioning to a new mobile system within the certification initiative.
Xebia's role in the Certification initiative is to enable certification agencies to gather information using mobile data collection tools. This eliminates the need for cumbersome paperwork and allows for real-time data syncing once an internet connection is available. This shift from paper-based processes to mobile data collection has been significant, as it has improved the user experience and made the certification process more efficient.
To ensure the future fitness of the technical backbone of the Rainforest Alliance’s initiatives, Xebia helped develop an IT strategy, aligning the business goals with the right technology needs:
- How does the IT strategy need to change based on the evolving business strategy?
- What is the roadmap ahead and how are priorities defined regarding implementation?
